I MAY (do) have a touch of OCD about me, so I love it when my children's attire complements the campervan interior.
Talking of styling, I've probably overdone it on the concentration of polkadots, crochet throws and bunting in our van but I need something to temper weekends camping with three males of varying sizes, right?
When we bought our old camper van, we initially thought we'd claw back some of the eye-watering expense of restoring it from the chassis upwards by renting it out. But we soon realised that path was fraught with difficulties, not least because of the enormous insurance premiums involved in renting out a classic vehicle and the 24/7 responsibilities that running it as a business would entail.
So our van remains our private vehicle of choice on sunny weekends, wintery afternoons, for music festivals and the occasional school run. We spent an AGE deciding on the paint scheme (classic white with a custom polar grey that looks more baby blue since you asked) and planning the interior (scarlet and cream upholstery, polkadot curtains and a blue and white checkerboard floor) but if I had my choice, I'd switch it up every year. I'm currently hankering after a cool green paint job, or maybe mushroom...
And don't even get me started on my never-ending quest to find the perfect blankets and throws to add into the mix. And then there's the bell tent and the sail cloth awning and the sleeping bags. My faffing/styling work is never done! Don't tell anyone, but I think I prefer this part of camper van ownership to the actual camping - I certainly prefer it to the seemingly compulsory annual MOT fail and sky-high maintenance expenses!
