Settling in to springtime in the country
If I’m being totally honest, I always find school holidays a bit of a nightmare (*gasp*). I work for myself so no work = no pay, and so I never actually ‘book’ time off, opting instead for a bit of ill-thought-out juggling of children, deadlines and everything else. I don’t ever do this very well, so yesterday, full of guilt and determined not to stick on yet another DVD, we had a 'springtime in the country’ day which went surprisingly well.
Granted, our beans might not grow, the pub was shut when we got there and number two son fell headfirst into the river and had to squelch the last stretch of our walk with boots full of water and soaking clothes, but the toad-in-the-hole was a bit of a triumph. Small victories, where I can grab them….
